Summary

This article describes the issues that are fixed in the Microsoft Word 2013 hotfix package that is dated September 9, 2014.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Assume that you print a read-only Word 2013 document. Then, you close Word. When you restart Word, some display settings are lost. For example, if the Show bookmarks option is enabled, the bookmarks are not displayed as expected.

  • Assume that you enable the Print background colors and images option in Word 2013. When you try to print a Word document that contains a background color, the nonprintable margins are not displayed in Print Preview mode.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You open many Word documents in Word 2013.

    • You modify all the documents, and then you leave the documents unsaved.

    • You switch to any other program window.

In this scenario, the opened documents are not AutoSaved at the correct interval.

  • Assume that you have a Word 2013 document that contains a table that has multiple levels of style inheritance. You change the table style and then save it. When you reopen the document, the changed table style does not persist.

  • Outlook 2013 might crash when you open a specific email that contains a fill-line object inside a fit-text object.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You enable the Preview pane in Windows Explorer.

    • In Word 2013, you click the File tab, click Open, click Computer, and then click the Browse button or any folder that appears above the Browse button.

    • In the Open window, select a Word document to preview.

In this scenario, a preview of the document is not displayed in the Preview pane. Additionally, you receive an error message in the Preview pane that resembles the following:

This file can't be previewed because of an error in the Microsoft Word previewer.

  • Assume that you have more than one display name. When you coauthor a Word document together with other users by using Word 2013, your comments might become duplicated.
