Summary

This article describes the issues that are fixed in the Microsoft Office 2013 hotfix package that is dated October 14, 2014.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • It is not easy to find the Recover Deleted Items button in Outlook 2013.

Note After you install this update, the Recover Deleted Items button is available in the Home tab when you select the Deleted Items folder.

  • When you try to save a project that overwrites an existing project file in Project 2013, and the project file is protected with a password, Project 2013 may stop responding.

  • When you open an email message that contains a linked image in Outlook 2013, Outlook tries to download the image and displays a Contacting the server for information dialog box. However, the dialog box does not contain the URL path of the server.

  • Assume that you publish a SharePoint 2010 workflow to a SharePoint 2013 document library. Then, you start a workflow task for an Office document. When you open the document and approve the workflow task in an Office application, you may receive the following error message:

ERROR This task could not be updated at this time.

  • Assume that you sync OneDrive for Business with a library. When you save a newly created Office 2013 document to an offline OneDrive for Business folder, the operation might fail. Additionally, when you try to save the document again, you receive the following error message:

Word cannot open or save this file because the path name is too long.

  • When additional logging modes are active, Outlook 2013 write data to the hard disk too frequently.

  • Assume that you enable telemetry logging for Office 2013. When you run a macro to execute user-defined functions, it takes longer time to execute than before.

  • Add columns to telemetry logging for the use with internal tools.

  • Increase retention time of telemetry logs from 3 to 7 days.

  • Assume that an ETW event contains a FILETIME column, it cannot be converted correctly.
