FIX: Synchronization state of an AlwaysOn Availability Group replica may not be updated if primary is unhealthy

Symptoms

The synchronization state of an AlwaysOn Availability Group replica may be not be updated if a primary replica health issue is detected and the SQL Server instance hosting the primary is unable to write the state change immediately. If this happens before a failover, it could result in data loss.

Resolution

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server.
