Outlook crashes and event ID 1000 is triggered by NRTMsgLibn.dll


When you're running Microsoft Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2007, the program crashes or freezes (hangs), and information that resembles the following is written to the Application log:

Event ID: 1000
Faulting application name: outlook.exe
Faulting module name: NRTMsgLibn.dll

Note The version of Outlook.exe may vary in the event data.


This issue occurs when certain versions of the Nrtmsglibn.dll file are running under the Outlook.exe process. This issue has been observed with the following versions of Nrtmsglibn.dll:
  • 8.5.3005.25
  • 8.5.2006.13
  • 8.5.3006.93
