This hotfix also applies to Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Analysis Services (SSAS 2014).

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a user of a database in a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services (SSAS 2012) or SQL Server 2014 Analysis Services (SSAS 2014) instance that is running in tabular mode.

  • The user has membership in a certain role that is not marked with Full Control (Administrator) permissions.

  • The user runs a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query against the SSAS database.

In this scenario, it takes much longer to run the query compared to when an administrator user runs the same MDX query in SSAS 2012 or SSAS 2014. For example, the user’s MDX query may take 7 seconds when run as an account that is not administrator, whereas the same MDX query takes 1 second to run when a user has Full Control administrator permissions.
