This article describes an issue that occurs when you use the AutoOOM setting on a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device. An update is available to resolve this issue. Before you install this update, all previously issued updates for this product must be installed.

Symptoms

Assume that you use AutoOOM on a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device. When the cbLow memory is hit, the device freezes. For example, you configure out-of-memory (OOM) settings by using the following entries in the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\OOM\:

"cbLow"=dword:A00000
"cbCritical"=dword:500000
"cmsWait"=dword:1388
"AutoOOM"=dword:1

Note The OOM issue does not occur with Windows Embedded Compact 7 Monthly Updates prior to (September 2013). This update includes changes to OOM functionality in Windows Embedded Compact 7.
