Event 1069 in the Spooler log after the print spooler fails over in Windows Server 2008 R2

Symptoms


Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a two-node print server failover cluster on a server that's running Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • You open a handle to one of the printers on node A.
  • The print spooler resource fails over to node B.
  • The print spooler resource fails over again, back to node A.
  • The handle to the printer is closed on node A.

In this scenario, about a minute after the printer handle is closed, event 1069 is logged in the Spooler log.
