The Start-CMDistributionPointUpgrade cmdlet fails in System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager

Symptoms


When you use the Start-CMDistributionPointUpgrade cmdlet to upgrade a shared distribution point to a Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager distribution point, the cmdlet fails. This problem occurs if a secondary site is referenced in the -sitecode parameter.

Additionally, you receive the following exception message:

Initiation of upgrade of BDP: server1.contoso.internal, failed.
Exception Type: System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException,Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.Cmdlets.HS.Commands.StartDistributionPointUpgradeCommand :: Exception Message: System.Collect

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have Cumulative Update 1  for System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager installed.

Restart information

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Note We recommend that you close Configuration Manager Administration Console before you install this hotfix package.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

More Information


This update removes the -BoundaryGroup parameter from the Start-CMDistributionPointUpgrade cmdlet.

Note The Set-CMDistributionPoint cmdlet can be used separately to define a given boundary group.

Additionally, the -SiteCode and -InstallInternetServer parameters are replaced with the DestinationSideCode and InstallIIS parameters. However, the replaced parameters are still available as aliases; either parameter will work with the cmdlet.
