Installer freezes when you install an update that uses WUSA in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2

When you install an update by using Windows Update Stand-Alone Installer (WUSA) in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2, WUSA may occasionally freeze. This causes the update installation to fail.
