Consider the following scenario:
- You disable journaling for Unified Messaging (UM) voice messages by running the following Exchange Management Shell (EMS) command in Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2010:Set-TransportConfig -VoicemailJournalingEnabled $false
- You create a UM mailbox policy that you select the All option for the Protect voice messages from unauthenticated callers setting.
- You create an Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS) protected voice message.
This issue occurs because the transport agent does not detect that a message is a protected UM voice message when the agent decides what messages to journal. Therefore, the message is not excluded from journaling.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
