About this update
This updates provides an additional manageability setting for out-of-date ActiveX control blocking in Internet Explorer 11, Internet Explorer 10, Windows Internet Explorer 9, and Windows Internet Explorer 8.
The following is a registry key addition for enterprises to better manage the out-of-date ActiveX control blocking feature. This setting determines whether the out-of-date ActiveX control blocking notification shows the Update button. This button directs users to update specific out-of-date ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer.
This setting applies to the August Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer (MS14-051) or later updates. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\VersionManager" /v UpdateEnabled /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
Note If you create the UpdateEnabled registry entry as a DWORD using this command and set it to 0, the Update button is removed. If you do not create this registry entry (default), or set the value to 1, the Update button is displayed.
