Stop error code 0xDE occurs when a failover cluster node crashes in Windows Server 2008 R2

Symptoms

A failover cluster node that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 crashes, and you receive the following Stop error code message:

0xDE, POOL_CORRUPTION_IN_FILE_AREA

Cause

This problem occurs because of a race condition that occurs when unused segments are removed.
