LastActive attribute provides inaccurate information about a user’s status in Skype for Business Online

INTRODUCTION

This article contains information about a change to the LastActive attribute in Skype for Business Online (formerly Lync Online).

MORE INFORMATION

The Skype for Business Online server presence scheme includes a method for calculating and displaying how long a user is away or offline. This method uses the LastActive attribute. The LastActive attribute returns presence inquiries from only those users who have the Colleagues, Workgroup, and Friends and Family privacy relationships.

A user may be displayed as Away or Offline for many days longer than they actually were away or offline. To resolve this issue, the user should sign out and then sign back in.

Known issues

The LastActive attribute provides inaccurate information

In Skype for Business Server 2015 and Skype for Business Online, the LastActive attribute occasionally shows outdated information (for example, a user may see a colleague who was online yesterday as "Offline 88 days"). This behavior may occur even when the LastActive attribute is disabled. A user whose LastActive attribute is incorrect can resolve the inaccurate time stamp by signing out/in or by manually changing their presence.

This article will be updated when a timeline for the issue's resolution is available.

By default, the LastActive attribute is disabled in some Skype for Business environments

This attribute is disabled temporarily in certain Skype for Business environments to address a now resolved issue in which the LastActive attribute appears for tenants who has disabled the attribute.
  • Tenant administrators should check the Service Health Dashboard for the timeline to re-enable the LastActive attribute in their environment
  • Tenant administrators who require the LastActive attribute remain disabled should reference the following article and disable the attribute for their tenant proactively:
