Errors in DMPDownloader.log that can be safely ignored when Configuration Manager is connected to Microsoft Intune

When you connect to the Microsoft Intune service, the DMPDownloader.log file may display error messages that can be safely ignored. Specifically, error messages that start with the text "ERROR: Unknown message type" can be safely ignored if the message type value is more than 12 for Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager or more than 16 for System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1 (SP1).

More Information

Information that is exchanged between the Configuration Manager environment in an on-premises customer environment and the Microsoft Intune service is passed through several different message types. DMPDownloader downloads those messages and sends them to the handling component in Configuration Manager for processing. For example, Discovery message types are sent to the Discovery Data Manager (DDM) component.

If a new type of data must be exchanged between the two components after the feature set for either Configuration Manager or Microsoft Intune is expanded, a new message type must be created. When a new message type is created on the Microsoft Intune service, a corresponding code change must be implemented to define the message in Configuration Manager. Until this change is implemented, an error message such as the message that is mentioned in the "Summary" section will be displayed and can be safely ignored.
