A user's Sent Items folder or other core folders are missing from the Navigation pane in Microsoft Outlook in Microsoft Office 365 Dedicated.
This issue may occur when one or both of the following conditions are true:
- The user accidentally deletes one or more core folders.
- Folders that seem to be missing become corrupted in some way. For example, Outlook or the computer itself may crash when email messages are being processed through the folder that appears to be missing.
To fix this issue, follow these steps:
- Use an Outlook profile to confirm that the folder or folders are missing.
- Open the mailbox in the Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Editor (MFCMAPI), and then look for the missing folder or folders there. If the folder or folders aren't there, run the following command:
Outlook /resetfoldersThis command provisions all the default system folders for the mailbox.
- If the folders are missing from Outlook but are present in MFCMAPI, examine the PR_ATTR_HIDDEN attribute in MFCMAPI for the missing folder. The following example demonstrates an evaluation of the Sent Items folder. In the following screen shot, the attribute is set to True. This means that the folder is hidden.
- Double-click the attribute, and then clear the Boolean check box. The attribute is now set to False.
- Repeat steps 2–5 for any other affected folders.
- Reload the Outlook profile. The Sent Items folder and any other missing folders are now displayed as expected. If the Sent Items folder was missing, try to send a test message from the mailbox to confirm that the folder is now working as expected.
As a support agent, you can reproduce the loss of the Sent Items folder or other core folders from the Outlook Navigation pane by loading the affected user's profile on one of the computers that are running Terminal Server.
