This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office that could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Microsoft Office file. To learn more about these vulnerabilities, see Microsoft Security Bulletin MS16-004.

Note To apply this security update, you must have the release version of Office 2016 installed on the computer.

Improvements and fixes

  • Translates some terms in multiple languages to make sure of the accuracy of the meaning.
  • This update also contains fixes for the following nonsecurity issues:
    • Assume that you create a bookmark for more than one paragraph in an email message in Outlook 2016. Then, you send the email message. When you check the bookmark of the email message, an incorrect selection is displayed.
    • You can't save a document to a document library that has a required column in Word 2016.
