Summary


This security update resolves a vulnerability in Microsoft Windows. The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Journal file. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less affected than users who operate with administrative user rights.

Improvements and fixes


This security update contains fixes for the following nonsecurity issue:
  • Assume that you have security update 3069114, which is documented in security bulletin MS15-098, installed on a computer that's running Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2. When you import or print content from Microsoft Word to Windows Journal by using Windows Journal Note Writer, the content isn't displayed correctly.
