This article describes update KB3127941 for Microsoft Word 2016, which was released on November 1, 2016. This update has a prerequisite.

Be aware that the update on the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2016. It doesn't apply to the Office 2016 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (How to determine?)

Improvements and fixes

  • Improve backward compatibility in charts between Word 2013 and Word 2016.

  • Fixes the following issues:

    • When you paste large content to a document in Word 2016, Word 2016 may freeze.

    • You can't input double-byte character set (DBCS) symbols or characters into a text box in Word 2016.

    • After you insert a table of content in a document and then switch to print preview in Word 2016, the page numbers in the table of content are incorrect.

    • Text that exceeds the width of table cells is truncated in Outlook 2016 even though the Wrap Text property is enabled for the table.

    • When you create an email message by using a customized stationary in Outlook 2016, extra line breaks are added and the font is changed unexpectedly.

    • Some network calls to older versions of SharePoint Server no longer occur.
