April 2016 hotfix rollup for Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack

This article describes the April 2016 cumulative rollup of hotfixes for Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack. The rollup contains the latest hotfixes for:

For Microsoft User Experience Virtualization (UE-V) 2.1 SP1, this hotfix package fixes the following issue:
  • Issue 1:
    When you try to change desktop wallpaper, a COM error causes wallpaper synchronization to fail.

For Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) 5.1 RTM, this hotfix package fixes the following issues:
  • Issue 1:
    App-V crashes on Remote Desktop Services (RDS) when dynamic configuration causes a policy update.
  • Issue 2:
    Custom configurations for existing entitlements are overwritten.
  • Issue 3:
    Added ETW log to detect when file has incorrect "FILE_EXECUTE" permissions.
  • Issue 4:
    App-V template for UE-V is missing registry keys. See Microsoft Authored UE-V Settings Location Template for App-V 5.0 Client for the template fix.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft Support. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem(s) described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Note The downloadable file will have the form <Hotfix ID>_intl_i386_zip.exe and contains installers for both x86-based and x64-based architectures. See the names for the downloaded files under the "File Information" section.

To apply the hotfix for UE-V 2.1 SP1, you must have UE-V 2.1 SP1 installed.

To apply the hotfix for APP-V 5.1, you must have APP-V 5.1 installed.

Installation information

Note This hotfix includes update installers for APP-V 5.1 client, server, and Remote Desktop Services. It also includes update installer for UE-V 2.1 SP1.

Restart information

You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Replacement information

This hotfix is the second hotfix for UE-V 2.1 SP1 and the third hotfix for APP-V 5.1.
