"Failed to load script" error when you log on to OWA and select a language

Symptoms


When you first log on to Outlook Web App (OWA) and then select a language, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Error:

X-OWA-Error: ScriptLoadError; Failed to load script: https://mail.contoso.com/owa/prem/15.0.1130.7/scripts/globalize/globalize.culture.es-419.js
X-OWA-Version: null
X-FEServer: exchange_server_name
X-BEServer: undefined
Date: date time

Cause


This issue occurs because Windows Server 2012 R2 introduced new languages that Exchange Server 2016 does not handle yet.

Cumulative update information

For Exchange Server 2016

To resolve this issue, install Cumulative Update 2 for Exchange Server 2016 or a later cumulative update for Exchange Server 2016.

Workaround


To work around this issue, choose a different language when you log on such as English (US).
