This article describes a scenario in which you can't print from an application to a multifunction printer that's connected to a USB port. This issue occurs if both a v3 and v4 printer driver are installed on the same USB port.
Consider the following scenario:
- A USB multifunction printer that supports both a FAX device and a printer device is attached to a Windows-based system.
- The driver for the FAX device is based on the Version 3 (v3) printer driver model. The driver for the printer device is based on the Version 4 (v4) printer driver model.
- Both drivers are installed on the same USB port.
This behavior is by design.
To resolve this issue, install the v3 and v4 printer drivers on separate USB ports.
