FIX: Time-out error when you process multiple partitions in parallel in SQL Server 2016 Analysis Services (Tabular model)

Assume that you use an instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Analysis Services (Tabular model). When you process multiple partitions of a table in parallel, Analysis Services may crash. Additionally, the processing operation may fail with a time-out error.


This issue occurs because the number of partition processing operations may exceed the MaxActiveConnections setting on the Datasource object.

Note By default, the MaxActiveConnections equals 10.

To work around this issue, use the following methods:
  • Reduce the parallelism of processing.
  • Increase the maximum active connections to the data source.
