FIX: Credential settings are lost when you schedule data refresh for PowerPivot workbooks

Applies to: SQL Server 2016 DeveloperSQL Server 2016 EnterpriseSQL Server 2016 Enterprise Core

Consider the following scenario:
  • You use PowerPivot for SharePoint on a SharePoint server, and the SQL Server version is SQL Server 2012, 2014 or 2016.
  • You upload a PowerPivot workbook to a SharePoint document library on the SharePoint server.
  • You schedule automatic refresh of the data in your workbook on the Manage PowerPivot Data Refresh page.
  • You set one or more data source connections to use credentials that are saved in Secure Store Service (SSS).

After you save and reopen the Manage PowerPivot Data Refresh page in this scenario, the database source connections are disabled, and the credential settings of those data source connections are lost.

The fix for this issue is included in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

Cumulative Update 4 for SQL Server 2014 SP2
Cumulative Update 11 for SQL Server 2014 SP1
