Symptoms

When you integrate a Windows Server 2012 Essentials Dashboard with Microsoft Office 365, the integration wizard fails, and you receive the following exception messages:

There was a Problem Configuring Office 365 Integration.

Cannot connect to Microsoft Office 365

Make sure that the computer is connected to the Internet, and then try again.

Workaround

To work around this issue, upgrade to Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2016.

More Information

Windows Server Essentials Dashboard integration with Office 365 gives administrators a centralized location where they can administer Office 365 mailboxes, distribution groups, and SharePoint online sites. If Dashboard integration is unsuccessful, the link between the Active Directory users and their Office 365 mailboxes isn't established, and users can't administer Office 365 from the server.
