You experience a MAPI_E_EXTENDED_ERROR (0x80040119) error when writing data to a folder in a Microsoft Outlook .pst file.
This issue may occur if the Outlook Personal Folders (.pst) file contains folders that are larger than 500 MB. A .pst folder is made up of several Heap-on-Node (HN) structures. The maximum amount of data that can be stored in one of these structures is approximately 500 MB.
Depending on the nature of the data and how it's distributed inside the .pst file (for example, string properties are stored in a separate HN structure), a MAPI_E_EXTENDED_ERROR (0x80040119) error that has an underlying 0x8C1 or 0x8CA error code is returned when you try to write additional data to an Outlook .pst folder that contains more than 500 MB of data.
Note Before you experience the error, you may be able to store anywhere between approximately 500 MB and up to 2 GB of data in a MAPI folder.
There currently are no plans to change this design. Software developers should consider this error and appropriate workarounds.
