FIX: Access violation occurs when trace flag 176 enabled in SQL Server 2016

Applies to: SQL Server 2016 Enterprise CoreSQL Server 2016 EnterpriseSQL Server 2016 Developer

Assume that you have trace flag 176 enabled in an instance of SQL Server 2016. When you mark a computed column as PERSISTED in a partitioned table and then update the column values in the table by using the UPDATE statement, an access violation might occur.

This fix is included in Cumulative Update 4 for SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 1.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
