Consider the following scenario:
You set up a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment that's based on a Generation 2 virtual machine (VM) in Windows Server 2016.
The VM has a DVD drive that's configured in a location next to the hard disk drives on the SCSI controller. Generally, this is "location 2."
You configure the VDI environment to use a User Profile Disk (UPD).
You log on to the desktop.
In this scenario, the profile disk does not attach to the VM. Therefore, a temporary user profile is incorrectly used. Also, the following event is logged in the event log:
Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-TSV-VmHostAgent/OperationalSource: Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-TSV-VmHostAgentDate: Event ID: 8479Task Category: ConfigurationLevel: WarningKeywords: User: NETWORK SERVICEComputer: Description:Remote Desktop Virtualization Host could not run the Hyper-V WMI job.Error description: '' failed to add device 'Synthetic Disk Drive'. To work around this issue, remove the DVD drive or reconfigure it to another location.
