Update for time zone and DST 2018 changes for Fiji Islands, Northern Cyprus, Sudan, and Tonga in Windows Embedded CE 6.0


This article describes the update for time zone and daylight-saving time (DST) changes for 2018 for the Fiji Islands, Northern Cyprus, Sudan, and Tonga in Windows Embedded CE 6.0.

Before you install this update, all previously issued updates for this product must be installed.


This is an update for users in the Fiji Islands, Northern Cyprus, Sudan, and Tonga to apply time zone and daylight-saving time changes and adjustments.


The Republic of the Fiji Islands now ends its obervance of DST in 2018 on January 14 instead of January 21.

Northern Cyprus

Northern Cyprus set its clocks back one hour for DST on October 29, 2017, after making no DST changes for the previous year. We recommend that all users change their time zone setting from "Istanbul" to the new "Athens, Bucharest" entry.

The Republic of Sudan switched from UTC+03:00 to UTC+02:00 on November 11, 2017. To accommodate this change, a new time zone was created.

The Kingdom of Tonga cancelled its DST observance this year. DST was previously scheduled to start on November 5, 2017. DST is no longer observed in Tonga.

Software update information

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Monthly Update December 2017. In the "File information" section, the package file name contains the product version, date, Knowledge Base article number, and processor type. The package file name format is as follows:

Product version-yymmdd-kbnnnnnn-processor type

For example, Wincepb60-110128-kb2492159-armv4i.msi is the ARMV4i Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Platform Builder fix that is documented in KB article 2492159 and that is contained in the January 2011 monthly update.

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:

  • On the Build menu, select Clean Solution, and then select Build Solution.
  • On the Build menu, select Rebuild Solution.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
