FIX: Deadlock occurs in SSAS 2016 and 2017 when you run a DAX query with time intelligence calculation in parallel

Symptoms


Assume that you have a Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or 2017 Analysis Services (SSAS 2016 or 2017) installed in a server with 2-8 CPUs (Central Processing Units). When you run a Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) query with time intelligence calculation in parallel, deadlock may occur and then SQL Server crashes.

Resolution


This issue is fixed in the following updates for SQL Server:

Cumulative update 12 for SQL Server 2017

Cumulative Update 5 for SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 2
