FIX: Database is inaccessible when you upgrade tabular model compatibility level from 1103 to 1400 in SQL Server 2017

Applies to: SQL Server 2017 on Windows (all editions)

Symptoms


Assume that you have a tabular model with 1103 compatibility level. When you upgrade the model to 1400 compatibility level, and deploy it to Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Analysis Services (SSAS) by using the same database name and data, you may get the following error:

In addition, you may notice that the database becomes inaccessible and any operation from SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) fails with the following error:

Status


Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This fix is included in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:
