Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You run a Miracast session on a device that is running Windows 10, version 1903, 1909, or 2004.

  • You have the June 9, 2020 cumulative monthly or security-only update or a later update installed.

  • You are disconnected from an active Miracast session.

  • The Miracast banner is showing on your screen. Additionally, the Settings and Pin icons are not available.

In this scenario when you try to manually reconnect to the Miracast session a second time by clicking the Reconnect button or by pressing the Windows key + K, the Windows taskbar icons (such as Power, Network, Sound, and so on) may stop responding.

Workaround

To work around this issue, do one of the following:

  • Restart your device.

  • Use Task Manager to stop and then restart the Explorer service and the DevicePicker service.
