You receive a security risk message that can lead to a display error message when you view a Web page that contains a Visio 2003 drawing


When you view a Web page that contains a Microsoft Office Visio 2003 drawing, you may receive the following message:
This page is accessing information that is not under its control. This poses a security risk. Do you want to continue?
If you click Yes, the page opens correctly. If you click
No, you receive the following Jscript error message:
Problems with this Web page might prevent it from being displayed properly or functioning properly. In the future, you can display this message by double-clicking the warning icon displayed in the status bar.

This problem may occur when all the following conditions exist:
  • The Web page that contains the Visio 2003 drawing was saved by using a primary output format of SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) and a secondary format as GIF (Graphics Interchange Format).
  • You view the Web page in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.
  • You have Adobe Acrobat Viewer 3.0 installed on your computer.


To work around this problem, change the Security settings in your Internet Options. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Internet Explorer 6.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. On the Security tab, click
    Internet, and then click Custom Level.
  4. In the Security Settings list, change
    Access data sources across domains (under
    Miscellaneous) to Enable.
  5. Click OK to close the Security Settings dialog box.
  6. Click Yes when you receive the following message:
    Are you sure you want to change the security settings for this zone?
  7. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
