An object may be hidden as an invisible object in a presentation in PowerPoint 2007

Symptoms

When you view a presentation in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 or a worksheet in Excel 2007, an object may be present but invisible to the user.

Cause

Inserted objects can be hidden in PowerPoint 2007 and Excel 2007 using an option in the Selection Pane.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, first determine whether the slide contains an invisible object. Then, make the invisible object visible. Or, remove the object from the presentation.

To determine whether the slide contains an invisible object, follow these steps:
  1. Open the presentation in PowerPoint 2007, or the workbook in Excel 2007.
  2. Click the Microsoft Office Button, point to Finish, and then click Inspect Document.
  3. In the Document Inspector dialog box, click to select the Invisible On-Slide Content check box, and then click Inspect.
If Document Inspector identifies invisible objects, you can make the invisible objects visible. Or, you can remove all the identified invisible objects from the slide.

Note We do not recommend that you remove all the invisible objects from a slide. If you remove all invisible objects, some slide content may be permanently removed.

To remove all the invisible objects, click Remove all in the Document Inspector dialog box, and then click Close.

To make an invisible object visible, follow these steps:
  1. On the Design tab, in the Arrange group, click Selection Pane.
  2. In the Selection and Visibility task pane, locate the invisible object in the Shapes on this Slide list.

Note An invisible object is identified by a blank icon. A visible object is identified by an icon that resembles an eye.
  3. Click the eye icon next to the object to make the invisible object visible.
If you do not want the object to be included in the slide, delete the object from the slide.
