Symptoms

You experience the following problems that are related to the OpsMgr SDK Service in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007.

Problem 1

The MonitoringHost.exe process on the Systems Center Operations Manager 2007 root management server may consume more than 2 gigabytes (GB) of memory. You can see this symptom in Task Manager.

Problem 2

A management pack in Systems Center Operations Manager 2007 converts OpsMgr SDK Service events to alerts. However, when you re-import the management pack, the events that have already been processed are processed again.

Cause

Problem 1 occurs because the OpsMgr SDK Service data source module does not limit the number of data items that are processed at a time. The data source module tries to read all pending data items from the database and to process the data items in a batch. The MonitoringHost.exe process may stop unexpectedly in response to an unhandled exception if too many data items have to be processed.
