Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You create a Web application that is not run at the Full Trust level.

  • The application uses the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 ReportViewer control (ReportViewer 9.0) on a Web page.

  • You try to view this Web page.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message:

System.Security.SecurityException: That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers.

Note This problem does not occur if the application uses the Visual Studio 2005 ReportViewer control (ReportViewer 8.0).

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

Prerequisites

You must have Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed to apply this hotfix.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.
