FIX: The BizTalk Accelerator for RosettaNet 3.5 configuration tool (Configuration.exe) closes unexpectedly when you run the configuration tool on a computer that does not have Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 installed


In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2, you cannot configure Microsoft BizTalk Accelerator for RosettaNet 3.5 when you run the BizTalk Accelerator for RosettaNet 3.5 configuration tool (Configuration.exe). Additionally, you receive an exception error message that resembles the following, and the configuration tool closes unexpectedly:
Error Configuration Framework]Feature: [Runtime] Failed to configure with error message [<Exception Message="Unexpected exception occurred while configuring [Runtime]." Source="" HelpID=""><Exception Message="Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt." Source="Configuration" HelpID="" /></Exception>]
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • You specify localhost in the BizTalk Server name field of the WebApps configuration.
  • Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 is not installed on the computer.


Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

You must install the following software before you apply this hotfix:
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2
  • Microsoft BizTalk Accelerator for RosettaNet 3.5

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

To work around this problem, change
localhost to the NetBIOS name of the computer in the configuration tool.
