The Business Portal Administration Area is Missing Under Site Settings or Site Actions for Business Portal for Microsoft Dynamics GP


Symptoms


The Business Portal Administration area is missing under Site Settings or Site Actions following the Business Portal for Microsoft Dynamics GP installation.

Resolution


The Business Portal Administration area under Site Settings or Site Actions includes the links to create users and roles. If this area is missing following the Business Portal installation, the BPDynamicsSiteSettings feature can manually be run to populate that section. Follow these steps to manually run the BPDynamicsSiteSettings Feature:

If running Business Portal 4.0 for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 or Business Portal 5.0 for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010, follow the steps below:
  1. Download the BPDynamicsSiteSettings_40_50.zip file.

  2. Verify the user you are logged in as is a site collection administrator.
  3. Verify that the BPDynamicsSiteSetings folder exists in the following location:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES.
  4. Right-click the DeactivateFeature.cmd file and open in a text editor, such as Notepad. Change the %sitecollection% to the name of your site collection. Close and save the file.
  5. Right-click the ActivateFeature.cmd file and open in a text editor, such as Notepad. Change the %sitecollection% to the name of your site collection. Close and save the file.
  6. Double-click the DeactivateFeature.cmd file to run the deactivate feature command.
  7. Double-click the UninstalllFeature.cmd file to run the uninstall feature command.
  8. Double-click the InstallFeature.cmd file to run the install feature command.
  9. Double-click the ActivateFeature.cmd file to run the activate feature command.

Note When perform these steps you may receive the following error:
BPRegionalSettings.aspx already exists
To resolve the situation where you receive this error message, perform the following steps, and then repeat steps 1 through step 9 again.
  1. On the Business Portal Home page click on the View All Site Content at the top of the quick launch bar on the left. 
  2. On the All Site Content page, click on Business Portal Administration Pages link.
  3. On the Business Portal Administration Pages page, find the BPRegionalSettings in the list, and hover the mouse pointer over the link, a drop down arrow will appear at the right end of the column, click on the drown down arrow and then click on Edit Properties.
  4. Change the name of Regional Settings to Regional SettingsOLD in the editable field, and then click OK.
  5. un the BPDynamicsSiteSettings Feature again.

If running Business Portal 5.1 for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010, follow the steps below:

  1. Download the BPDynamicsSiteSettings_51.zip file.

  2. Verify the user you are logged in as is a site collection administrator.
  3. Verify that the BPDynamicsSiteSetings folder exists in the following location:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\14\TEMPLATE\FEATURES. 
  4. Right-click the DeactivateFeature.cmd file and open in a text editor, such as Notepad. Change the %sitecollection% to the name of your site collection. Close and save the file.
  5. Right-click the ActivateFeature.cmd file and open in a text editor, such as Notepad. Change the %sitecollection% to the name of your site collection. Close and save the file.
  6. Double-click the DeactivateFeature.cmd file to run the deactivate feature command.
  7. Double-click the UninstalllFeature.cmd file to run the uninstall feature command.
  8. Double-click the InstallFeature.cmd file to run the install feature command.
  9. Double-click the ActivateFeature.cmd file to run the activate feature command.
