When you open Word as a normal window (not maximized and not minimized, but showing some of the desktop behind it), the window is partiallyhidden by the taskbar or Office Shortcut Bar.
This happens when the taskbar or Office Shortcut Bar is configured withthe following settings:
Always On Top is selected.
Auto Hide is not selected.
The taskbar is located at the top or left side of the screen.
Method 1: Click the Start Bar or Office Shortcut Bar with the right mouse button, click Properties, and clear the Always On Top check box.
Method 2: Click the Start Bar or Office Shortcut Bar with the right mouse button, click Properties, and select Auto Hide.
Method 3: Move the taskbar or Office Shortcut Bar to the right side of the screen or to the bottom of the screen.
Method 4: Run Word in a maximized window.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Wordlisted at the beginning of this article. We are researching thisproblem and will post new information here in the Microsoft KnowledgeBase as it becomes available.
Each time you open Word in the normal window mode, less of the windowwill be visible. Therefore, at some point you may not be able to seethe window at all. If this happens, you can reposition the window withone of the following methods:
Method 1: Press ALT+SPACEBAR to access the Control menu, and click Move. Then, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to center the window on the screen, or press any key to activate the Move function with the mouse and use the mouse to center the window.
