Volume Control May Not Be Installed with Some Sound Cards

The Volume Control tool may not be available after you install Windows.
Tools such as Volume Control are installed based on the hardware detectedduring the installation of Windows. If the computer contains an ISAPlug and Play device that is not turned on by the BIOS, the device is notdetected until after Windows is installed.
To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:

Method 1

When you install Windows, use the Custom Setup option. When you areprompted to select the components you want, select Volume Control inthe Multimedia section.

Method 2

If Windows is already installed, follow these steps to installVolume Control:
  1. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  2. On the Windows Setup tab, click Multimedia, and then click Details.
  3. Click the Volume Control check box to select it.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click OK.
