SUMMARY
The Chinese Code Converter is a tool used to convert Chinese plain text todifferent code pages. However, the file must be in .txt format; otherdocument formats are not supported.

Code page types include:
  • Unicode, CNS11643, IBM PS/55
  • GB, TCA, TELEgraph
  • BIG5, ETEN, and WANG
Text files can be switched between these coding types. The converterrecognizes a source file as either a Unicode or non-Unicode file as it isbeing opened. If it is a Unicode based file, the code page will selectUnicode; otherwise, it will select the current locale code page. Forexample, Chinese (PRC or Hong Kong) locale will set the default to GB codepage, and Chinese (Taiwan) locale will set the default to BIG5 code page.

CNS11643, IBM PS/55, TCA, TELEgraph, ETEN, and WNAG code page selectionsare only available in Chinese (Taiwan) locale. Unicode, GB, and BIG5 codepages are available in all three Chinese locales.

This tool also translates Traditional Chinese Characters to SimplifiedChinese characters. The reverse is true, as well.
