When you drag a shortcut of a graphics file supported by MicrosoftPhoto Editor, for example a GIF file, from the desktop to the Photo Editorwindow, you receive the following error message:
Unknown File Format
To open a graphic file by dragging it to the Microsoft Photo Editor window,drag the actual file, not a shortcut to that file.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem does not occur in Office 2000.
The Microsoft Photo Editor is a standalone product that is installed by acomplete installation of Microsoft Office 97. Microsoft Photo Editor allowsyou to customize graphic images you create, scan, or open.
