OLEXP: How to Filter Newsgroup Messages in Outlook Express

This article describes how to filter Internet newsgroup messages inOutlook Express.
To set up a newsgroup message filter in Outlook Express, click NewsgroupFilters on the Tools menu. To add a filter, click Add. In the Groups box,click the messages you want to filter. You can choose to filter allmessages from all servers, only messages from a specific server, ormessages from a specific newsgroup on a specific server.
You can filter messages based on the following criteria:
- The sender's e-mail address
- The contents of the subject line
- The size of the message
- The length of time the message has been on the server
To filter messages by the message subject, type a portion or a completesubject line in the Subject box.
To filter messages by size, click the Message Has More Than check box toselect it, and click a value in the Lines box.
To filter messages by the length of time the message has been on theserver, click the Messages Posted More Than check box to select it, andthen click a value in the Days box.
When you are done creating the filter, click OK. You can add more filtersas you need them, change the filter order by clicking a filter and thenclicking Move Up or Move Down, or remove a filter by clicking it and thenclicking Remove.
Note that filters are not applied to the current newsgroup until you closeand reopen that newsgroup by either quitting and restarting OutlookExpress or by viewing another newsgroup and then the original newsgroup.
