Microsoft Word may appear to stop responding when you do a mail merge using aMicrosoft Access parameter query. You may also receive the following error messages:
This task is taking longer than expected. Do you want to continue waiting?
If you click "Yes", you receive the same error message again.

Note A Microsoft Access parameter query prompts you to enter certaincriteria each time the query runs.
This behavior occurs because Word is waiting for you to type informationinto the Microsoft Access parameter query input box.
Press ALT+TAB to switch to the Microsoft Access parameter query input box, type the required text, and then click OK.

Note If you save your mail merge main document as a template, and thencreate a new document based on the template, the Microsoft Access parameterquery will prompt you without requiring you to press ALT+TAB.
