Full Synchronization from Windows NT PDC to LanMan Server May Fail

SYMPTOMS
Full synchronization from a Windows NT primary domain controller (PDC) toLanMan server may fail when there are too many machine accounts in thedomain. The LanMan server will log the following error message:

Failed to synchronize with PDC, Event ID LMU-6086
CAUSE
This is a problem in the Netlogon service.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in theMicrosoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.

Delta syncs from Windows NT to LanMan will sometimes fail because of thedifferences between Windows NT and LanMan security. When such a failureoccurs, LanMan will perform a full synchronization and with the abovehotfix applied, full synchronization will be successful even if there are alarge number of machine accounts in the domain.
