When you use LPR to send a print job to the printer, the message "PrinterError" will incorrectly be displayed if the printer is busy. Even though theprinters folder displays an error, LPRMON will continue to retry the printjob until it is cancelled by the user.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.
In most cases when "printer error" is displayed it is because the buffer onthe printer network card or print server is full or there is another LPRconnection to the printer from a different computer. "Printer Busy orError" will now be displayed, which is a more accurate description. Thismessage will also be displayed if the printer is out of paper or has ahardware failure.
