LDAP Does Not Authenticate on French WinNT Due to Encryption

SYMPTOMS
You are unable to securely authenticate to an LDAP server usingapplications such as Windows Address Book or NetMeeting on the Frenchversion of Windows NT 4.0 when using NTLM. The application may fail to readentries and may return an error message.
CAUSE
Because LDAP asks for confidentiality for NTLM, DPA, and MSN authenticationpackages, it will not work on the French version of Windows NT.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in theMicrosoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.

With this fix, LDAP no longer asks for confidentiality when using NTLM.
