NDIS 4.0 token ring drivers that support PROMISCUOUS mode fail WindowsHardware Quality Lab (WHQL) certification tests.
Token Ring drivers that support the ReceivePackets paradigm reveal aproblem with Ndis.sys. When a packet that uses "group addressing" (forexample, broadcast) is received, and promiscuous mode is enabled on theadapter, NDIS fails to filter the packet causing invalid addresses to bereported to LLC.
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in theMicrosoft Knowledge Base:
