If you try to use the Registration Form Handler in FrontPage 98 on a Website running the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) or MicrosoftPersonal Web Server, you may receive the following error message whenviewing the properties of the page:
This server does not support registered end users.
Internet Information Server and Microsoft Personal Web Server do notallow users to register through a browser for access to a Web.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft productslisted at the beginning of this article.
IIS requires that all users, authors, and administrators of a FrontPageWeb have valid Windows NT accounts. User accounts can only be created bya Windows NT administrator using User Manager. The HyperText TransportProtocol (HTTP) does not support creating user accounts.
When you create a registration Web, you ask the server to create and updatea list of registered users based on input from HTTP browsers. IIS is notdesigned to support the creation of registered users without creating acorresponding Windows NT account.
For additional information about how to create a registration page foruse with Web servers that support this feature, please see the followingarticle in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
