When you click Start, point to Programs, click MS-DOS Prompt, and then try to use the Format command to format a logical drive on an extended partition, you may receive the following error message:
Invalid media or Track 0 bad - disk unusable.
To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:
Method 2Restart your computer in MS-DOS mode, and then format the appropriate drive. To restart your computer in MS-DOS mode, click Start, click Shut Down, click Restart In MS-DOS Mode, and then click OK.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 98.
