You use the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) receive pipeline in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2 or BizTalk Server 2009 to receive Electronic Data Interchange For Administration, Commerce and Transport (EDIFACT) messages from a trading partner.
You select the Generate Technical ACK check box or the Generate Functional ACK check box in the EDI Properties page of the trading partner or in the EDI Global Properties page.
You receive an EDIFACT message from the trading partner.
In this scenario, the EDIFACT CONTRL acknowledgement that BizTalk Server sends back to the trading partner is incorrect. Specifically, the UCI2 data element (Interchange sender) and the UCI3 data element (Interchange recipient) are reversed in the EDIFACT CONTRL message.
The issue occurs because of an error in the EDI Disassembler pipeline component that is used in the EDI receive pipeline. Specifically, the UCI2 data element is mapped from the UNB3 field of the received message incorrectly and the UCI3 data element is mapped from the UNB2 field of the received message incorrectly.
Cumulative updated information
For BizTalk Server 2009, the hotfix that resolves this issue is included in Cumulative Update 1 for BizTalk Server 2009.
